London is the ultimate Mecca for exhibition lovers

Thank God it’s Friday! Whilst deputy director OIiver Rosenwald is heading to Johannesburg for the opening of “Tutankhamun – His Tomb and His Treasures” (for the 1st time in Africa!), I am preparing a trip with our marketing team to London. SC Exhibitions is a proud sponsor of REMIX, the international media, culture and technology gathering, taking place on 2nd & 3rd December at Google’s London town hall.

When in London, a visit to some of the city’s galleries and museums is mandatory for me. Here’s my exhibition list for next week:

Germany: Memories of a Nation
The British Museum is my favorite museum. As a German, I am curious to know what director Neil MacGregor has to say in his “600-year history in objects” of our country. The show is on display until 25th January 2015.

Anselm Kiefer
The big Anselm Kiefer show at the Royal Academy of Arts will be closing on 14th December. The Royal Academy is one of the cornerstones of public exhibitions – somehow the origins of our work today.

Museum of Curiosity
“It’s like visiting the Natural History Museum on drugs” said somebody of this latest addition to London’s exhibition world. They say in their Twitter profile “curating exhibitions which will disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed”. Is it a wunderkammer? A cabinet of horrors? Artist Viktor Wynd is always good for a surprise.

I could write this list forever – there is the “Horst – Photographer of Style” exhibition at my beloved V & A, the “Institute of Sexology” at the Wellcome Collection, and actually I could stay even in longer in London just to see the new Elvis retrospective opening soon at the O2. London is the ultimate Mecca for exhibition lovers (Sorry, Paris! Sorry, New York!), I’ll need to tweak these exhibitions into our packed REMIX agenda!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Yours, Christoph Scholz
