The Experience Economy Meeting (TEEM)

The international business conference, formerly presented as The Touring Exhibitions Meeting, comes for the first time to the United States. TEEM is a conference and marketplace enabling delegates to make connections with a global network of decision makers from businesses ranging from touring exhibitions, immersive experiences like escape rooms or virtual reality spaces, pop up attractions, immersive movie and theatre experiences.

The majority of delegates are owners and founders, CEOs, directors and senior managers working in entertainment companies, museums, science centers, attractions and neighboring industries. TEEM is an intimate conference format with not more than 200 delegates in order to create in-depth networking opportunities. Registered delegates can use the conference facilities for meetings, hold product presentations, and will receive access to the delegate list – all included in the registration fees ranging from $599 to $799.

Learn more about TEEM

The conference will be held in 2020 in Los Angeles since the city is one of the world’s leading hubs for the entire entertainment industry. The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles was chosen as conference venue because it offers friendly, intimate conference facilities and the Kyoto Gardens, a Japanese rooftop garden where the main evening event of the conference will be taking place.

TEEM is a project by SC Exhibitions, the touring exhibitions and experiences division of Semmel Concerts, one of the world’s leading promoters and producers of live entertainment.  The conference started in 2012 as The Touring Exhibitions Meeting. Six editions were held in Paris (2012), Berlin (2013 & 2019), Munich (2014 & 2017), and Istanbul (2015).

We believe that the term “Touring Exhibitions” no longer reflects the growing and everchanging variety of interesting new “exhibition projects” and aim to broaden the audience and conference topics by including more members of the “experience economy”.  Consider the immersive exhibitions and concepts by companies like teamLab, Atelier Lumiere, The Museum of Ice Cream, and Meow Wolf, new entertainment malls from American Dream and Area 15, or virtual reality attractions like The Void and Dreamscape. The experience landscape is rapidly evolving in the 21st century.

“The increased hunger for experiences that audiences can step inside and physically partake in is increasingly hard to ignore; it’s everywhere from the continued proliferation of escape rooms to branded activations like HBO’s Westworld experience at SXSW to immersive theme parks like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” wrote online publication The Verge in a profile story about Two Bit Circus, a ‘mirco amusement park’ in Downtown Los Angeles.

The Verge quotes Two Bit Circus’s co-founder Brent Bushnell: “Escape rooms, immersive theater, virtual reality, augmented reality; all of these, for me, are in the same world.” There couldn’t be a better summary for the topics we want to discuss in addition to the conferences core theme, touring exhibitions, at TEEM from May 1 to 3 in Downtown Los Angeles.

LIVE MARKETPLACE powered by pechakucha

You want to present your production, service, or product live at the TEEM market place?

We are using PechaKucha for the very first time. PechaKucha is the Japanese word for 'chit-chat' it is also the name given to simple show and tell format devised by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, where presenters show 20 images for 20 seconds each - basically because people talk too much! The images auto-forward so there is no 'next slide' or 'back one please' - 400 seconds later the next presenter is on! So every delegate has the chance to present at TEEM, but the slots are limited.

Simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Register for TEEM. The current standard rate is available until March 31, 2020.

Step 2: After the registration you are eligible to register for free for the Live Market Place. We accept applications until March 31, 2020. Please send an email to mrktplcsc-xhbtnscm with your company details. You will receive a link with details for your presentation.

Step 3: Please prepare 20 slides – not less, not more. You will have 20 seconds for every slide. That is PechaKucha! (Examples) Please send your presentations upfront to mrktplcsc-xhbtnscm

Step 4: Upload your presentation to

Step 5: Present at TEEM Los Angeles on May 1 or 2, 2020
